MARTA RYCZKOWSKA

PhD in Art History, art critic, curator, educator and academic lecturer at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland. She is International Relations and Research Manager for the European Capital of Culture Lublin 2029, where she is responsible for developing international partnerships, research and knowledge exchange. Previously, as Programme Curator, she was responsible for the artistic and programme development of Lublin’s bid for the European Capital of Culture 2029. She is President of the Open Studio Art Association in Lublin and a member of the Council of the Performance Art Foundation. She has curated exhibitions and artistic and creative education programmes and is the author of texts on contemporary art published in Poland and internationally. Her research interests include contemporary art, cultural resilience, cultural policy and the role of culture in times of polycrisis. She collaborates with numerous art institutions, cultural organisations and international networks across Poland and Europe. She is the author of the book Joseph Beuys and Polish Art (2024) and has been awarded the Medal on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the City of Lublin and the Joseph Beuys Research Prize.
